Our Story

ByteSafe^TM was founded on the principle of responsible use of data and securing information privacy while harnessing the power of data to inform, protect and promote integrity.

What began as a passion project for Raghavan Chellappan, a tech entrepreneur, and his cofounders, based on their own experiences with data breaches and identity thefts, has evolved into a focused effort to develop and provide enhanced privacy and security solutions for companies that maintain repositories of customer data, including personally identifiable information (PII) and sensitive personal information (SPI), and are potential targets for unscrupulous actors.

Using a proprietary algorithm, the ByteSafe^TM team of talented and experienced technology professionals is building a next generation Privacy and Compliance Management (PCM) platform, framework and dedicated tools to help clients build, operate, and measure scalable data privacy and compliance initiatives as well as manage a more engaged and integrated privacy and security posture.

Furthermore, ByteSafe^TM plans to use emerging technologies (artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), Blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), deep learning and other data-driven approaches) for their analytical service offerings.

Our Leaders

Raghavan Chellappan

Founder and Managing Director

Raghavan brings over two decades of experience working with applied computing technologies, developing and delivering highly-scalable, best-in-class enterprise-level innovative digital transformation solutions to complex, field-specific problems. He is passionate about all things privacy and an avid believer in the “servant leader” philosophy. He has worked with Fortune 500 companies, blue-chip clients, small businesses and start-ups in the private sector (AT&T, UUNET, SPRINT/Nextel, MCI-WorldCom/Verizon, AHOLD, Viewpointe, Fannie Mae, Duke Energy, CondeNast); public sector (DoD, DoEd, NOAA, USDA-Forest Services, Treasury Dept, USPS, FDA, CDC, NIH) and the nonprofit sector. He is a seasoned product manager and operations executive with a proven record of building teams, delivering technology, and growing business with a solid track record in consulting (Accenture, Grant Thornton, Comsys). Raghavan holds a B.S. (Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry), and M.S. in Computer Science (Oklahoma City University) with additional coursework in Financial Accounting, Operations Management, Digital Marketing, and Cost Accounting (online) from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.

Raghavan has authored/co-authored white papers on emerging technologies specifically in the areas of Digital Transformation (DX), Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Internet of Things (IoT), User Experience (UX), and Blockchain.

As the Founder and Managing Director of ByteSafe^TM, Raghavan is responsible for the day-to-day operations, direction and product strategy of the company.

Saikumar Nukala

Product Development

Sai is an integration specialist with more than 18 years of experience focused on delivering innovative enterprise solutions and building complex web applications for clients in the private and public sectors. He has held key roles in leading projects and brings strong technical knowledge of IT enterprise systems at all layers including ML/AI, Big Data, COTS and custom applications, middleware, operating systems, databases, servers, networks and virtualization technologies. Sai holds a B.S. in Electronics and Telecommunications, and M.S. in Computer Information Systems. He has several technical certifications to his credit including TOGAF 9 Certified EA, CSM. ACP, Salesforce Certified System Architect. At ByteSafe^TM, Sai supports the product management and development teams. His passion is building beautiful products and working with wonderful people.

Ajay Gaglani

Infrastructure Services

Ajay Gaglani is a seasoned technologist with over 15 years of experience working with and growing startups. Ajay has a deep history of innovation and technical expertise in the areas of security, data, technology, and engineering; he has a wealth of software design, mobile app development, consulting, and leadership experience helping clients extract value from data, with special emphasis on infrastructure management. Ajay is a versatile serial entrepreneur with startup experience in the information management, transportation, hospitality and real estate areas. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics (Rutgers University), and M.S. in Applied Physics (New Jersey Institute of Technology). At ByteSafe^TM, Ajay works on infrastructure solutions and mobile products, building our datacenters, and monitoring tools.

Col. Mark D. Gatanas (Retd.)

Advisor

Mark serves on the Board of Advisors for ByteSafe^TM bringing 30+ years experience in Senior Executive roles successfully building, growing and managing teams across organizations, bringing in large value contracts, and scaling up businesses in information technology and information systems management (operations and sales). Currently, Mark is the CEO and President of a veteran-owned business in the defense contracting industry and has previously served as Vice President of Business Development for CACI Inc. and Director of Business Development at EDS Inc. winning multi-million dollars worth of new business. Prior to his civilian career, Mark served in the US Army as a distinguished officer for over 26 years, where he held the full range of command and staff positions, and conducted diplomatic assignments as an Area Specialist/Military Advisor/Assistant to US Presidential Representatives in the Middle East. Mark has travelled extensively across MENA countries and is very knowledgeable about the region. Mark has served as founding investor in emerging growth companies in the digital infrastructure sector for several years and has played active roles on their Boards as Director and Chairman.

VCS Raghavan

Advisor

“VCS” serves on the Board of Advisors for ByteSafe^TM and brings over two decades of experience leading finance and strategy for global consumer businesses across industries. VCS was on the Executive teams at Lexmark, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Accenture and Motorola in the Asia-Pacific region where he led financial operations and strategy, accounting, corporate reporting, M&As, and financial planning and analysis functions. VCS is also a seasoned entrepreneur with more than 10 years of experience developing start-up concepts, seeking investment funding, and building high performance teams that collaborate across various functions to execute for consistent results. VCS is currently focused on business transformation initiatives that use NetSuite’s Cloud based technology and is passionate about helping small to medium enterprises. VCS holds a B.Sc in Mathematics (University of Madras, India), MBA (Monash University, Australia) and MCom (Deakin University, Australia). He is a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) in Australia.

Ravi C. Narayan

Advisor

Ravi serves on the Board of Advisors for ByteSafe^TM bringing over 30 years of experience in the fields of public and private accounting. As the founder of CPAs Inc., and Radiant Solutions he has focused on delivering exceptional financial consulting services for leading growth-oriented defense and technology companies. As a qualified CPA Ravi brings tremendous knowledge and experience in the consulting, business development, accounting and financial areas. He is particularly skilled in managing internal controls, project management, forecasting and budgeting, and has served as an expert on numerous projects in overseeing distribution functions, coordinating customer relations and international relations, spearheading contract negotiation, and administering audits. Ravi has served as Controller to a wide array of organizations, where he managed all accounting, finance and administrative functions. He has assisted clients in a number of business and tax issues, including IRS audits, merger & acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, liquidations, and business valuations, among others. Ravi also brings 15+ years of experience advising clients in the investment and venture capital arenas. Ravi holds an MBA and is a certified member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
